So you are too scared or lazy to build a computer but you still want a great deal. Lucky for you it can be done. Actually it is almost worth your time to just spend a little extra and buy pre-assembled since PCs are so cheap now. If you are going to buy pre-assembled, you may sacrifice a little bit of power in order to get a cheaper computer and you may have to wait for the right deal to come along.
So how should we go about this? Where do you start looking? Well how about one of the biggest computer manufacturers, Dell. But don’t bother too much with the Dell website. Instead go to Techbargains.com where they keep the best desktop deals updated. If you are looking for an even cheaper option then start searching around for computers without Windows. Having Windows pre-installed is what jacks up the price for many computers, so if you have your own Windows install CD or if you think Linux is an option for you then try that.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you do find a great deal that is not quite as powerful as you would like, remember that things like RAM or harddrives are really quick and relatively cheap upgrades. Here is a review of a $159 PC. It is not top of the line. It doesn’t have Windows and could use a RAM upgrade but if I already have Windows and a good RAM upgrade costs $100, then my computer costs $259. You can pick this deal up at your local Fry’s.
