Most everyone makes sure that they put in their frequent flyer number when they buy their ticket. But don’t miss out on other ways to get frequent flyer miles:

1. Credit Cards - most people know about this one. There are usually deals where signing up gives you 10-15 thousand free miles, then one mile per dollar.
2. Hotels - a lot of hotels offer frequent flyer miles each time you stay. Just sign up for free on their website. I think Hilton gives you 500 miles each time you stay.
3. Rental Cars - many rental agencies have a similar deal to hotels. Each time you rent you get miles.
4. Grocery Stores - I have seen some grocery stores that link their savings card to your mileage account. I know Safeway does it and I’m sure there are more.

All of these offer free miles just for purchasing things that you were going to buy anyways. It may just take a few extra minutes to do the research or sign up for the program.
