For those of you who aren’t in the know, most DVDs weigh in at 4.7 GB. Some are twice that and new HD-DVDs can be around 30GB. However if you are looking to build a Media Center PC or just back-up those easily damaged discs, you will fill up any hard drive really fast at that size.
Here is a guide for converting those DVDs to a smaller avi or mpg.
Although this guide works very well, I would recommend using a program called DVD Shrink to get your files down to a manageable size.
