The retail employees are always asking me to sign the back of my credit card but I am not so sure that it a good idea. If someone where to steal my credit card when it is signed, then they would not be asked for an ID and they would have a good copy of my signature to forge. So what are you supposed to do? I have seen it recommended that you don’t just leave it blank but instead write “ASK FOR PHOTO ID” in that little strip. Of course you will have to show your ID each time you buy something, but a couple of extra seconds might be better than dealing with thousands of stolen credit card charges.
