All of the big cellphone providers now charge around $175-$200 if you want to cancel your service before your contract is out. You can read here about how to avoid having to pay that cancellation fee by getting yourself canceled. Basically you just make yourself unprofitable to the company by roaming all the time. It takes about three months to do but if you are really fed up with Cingular/Verizon/Sprint/TMobile then I’m sure it might be worth your time.
