This is a quick and easy tip if you want to get someone to believe you when you are just making it all up. Say whatever it is you are lying about with absolute confidence. Say it like there is no possible other explanation in the world. Don’t stutter or pause, just blast it out there and make eye contact.
There is a chance that the person your are talking to knows the right answer but unless they have the evidence to back it up, they probably won’t even disagree. Of course if they do then you will look like a bigger moron, but most of the time no one will contest it with you. To recover from being called out, just say you read it somewhere and the author must have been wrong. It’s not your fault.
