Workout At Your Desk

There are some of us who just can’t spare time at some points in our lives to workout. So why not workout while you are working? These are not to replace your exercise schedule, but they will help you stay in shape through those busy times when you can’t make it to the gym.

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Even if you work on the 80th floor, get off at 75 and walk the rest. Even better if you do slight calf raises as you walk up the steps.
  • If your job allows it then sit on an exercise ball at your desk instead of a chair. This helps your abs and back.
  • Walk to lunch. Maybe even keep a pedometer to monitor how many steps you take a day. Aim to increase it occasionally.
  • Keep hand grippers or a stress squeeze ball in your office and use it often.
  • Perform some stretches that don’t require much movement. Some ideas might be back, arms and calves.
  • Carry groceries, laptop bags and other things with your elbow at a 90 degree angle. Hold it as you walk. This will help your forearms, biceps and shoulders.

Be creative in coming up with short, inconspicuous exercises. A quick google search will probably turn up some more ideas. The above ideas can keep your blood flowing and not make you look like an idiot at your desk.
